3D Art Week 03 LEGO Proxies

For this week of 3D Art, we were tasked of recreating super small LEGO sets in Maya by first creating the various LEGO pieces. I decided to create my project around the LEGO set 6966 Star Wars Jedi Starfighter. I decided on this set as it's a microfighter version of a full set I had as a kid as Revenge of the Sith is my favorite Star Wars film.

Some reference images of the set.

Above are shots of the majority of the pieces used in this set, recreated in Maya through a combination of my own pieces as well as Nick Zuccerello's LEGO pieces. I have purchased the LEGO set through eBay as well, so I will have a physical model to look at for the more detailed pieces as it is pretty hard to find high quality images on the set's pieces. Luckily, it came out to be pretty cheap. With these being proxies, I will be touching up some pieces before the assembling for next week.

3D Art Week 02 (Minecraftish Cubes)

For this week's assignment in 3D Art, we expanded on the previous week's concepts with cubes. Now, we are learning to UV and texture a beveled cube to create a Minecraft look.

Cut UVs for beveled cube, separated into 6 pieces.
UVs rearranged side by side.
The 3 textures I created in Photoshop to be used in Unreal Engine 4
Stone textures applied on cube for test in Maya
Screenshot of material editor for the water blocks. For the water blocks, I also messed with the opacity values and turned on transparency to give the water a see-through look.

High resolution shots of the small environment I made with the Minecraft cubes. I decided to create a beach type of environment with stone/rocks, sand, and water blocks. It was fun to mess around with the opacity levels for the water blocks.

Common Art Week 1

For this week's assignment in Common Art, we were tasked with creating a MAYA 3D model through simple shapes based on a SPARTH concept art painting of our choice. We would then take it into Adobe Photoshop to paint over.

Art I chose called Medieval Colony by SPARTH.
3D model in Maya I made based on the illustration by SPARTH.

For the final part of the assignment, I wanted to a spin on the original illustration by SPARTH. While listening to an Attack on Titan remix, I decided to create a piece based on the show/manga while also throwing on a streetwear twist to the design of the characters.

For my research project, I decided on learning more on about how to create stylized hair in Zbrush as well as focus on creating cleaner sha...
