Week 05 Nerf Gun High Res Cont.

 This week's 3D art assignment involved continuing the high resolution model of the Nerf Striker gun. However, due to poor planning on my part with capstone tasks, I ended up not able to get time to work on the model this week as much. I did say I would spare some time last week but was not able to. Below I have outlined a way for me to get back on track while still maintaining my obligations for Capstone, Gamelab, and VR.

Next week revolves around me needing to complete the game res and UV and as such I have to catch up by getting my high resolution finished by Friday. I will do that by dedicating proper hours each day to this assignment where I will work on it and only work on this assignment as my issue right now is tunnel visioning assignments where once I am focused on one I keep my attention on that assignment. It's a pretty bad habit especially when you want to get something done absolutely right. As such I will make sure to have at least 3 hours today, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to focus on this Nerf Gun and the accompanying videos. As for my other assignments and classes, I will make sure to do the same with setting a set number of hours of work time so I don't fall into focusing on one class too much. It'll be rough for the next few days, but I have to do it to catch back up.

Personal Project - 3D Coat/Hand-painted Textures/Pizza Chicken Ward

 




During this week's one on one session with Nick Zuccarello, we continued to go over personal projects for me to work on outside of class. After discussing why I liked this concept below from Riot Game's League of Legends, with how I liked the hand-painted aesthetic when it came to 3D art, I was given the OK to start messing around in with 3DCoat and if I am familiar enough with it at the basic level, I can go use 3Dcoat instead when it comes time to do the character modeling in the later half of this semester for 3D Art II.

For the following few weeks, I will begin looking at basic tutorials for 3DCoat as well as practice handpainting out the pizza part of the chicken concept above.

Week 04 - Nerf Gun Proxy and Beginning of High Res

 For this week in 3D Art, we were tasked with proxying the Nerf gun shown below. To supplement the assignment, we were given videos to follow along to help. Working on my capstone ended up messing up my time spent on this assignment and I will need to catch up this week when it comes to proxying the rest of the model.

VR Project Sprint 2 Deliverable

 For this sprint of the VR project, we have began asset creation. Per our art lead Vanna, we were assigned a due date of February 4th to have proxies in for major assets needed for our experience. Below I have images of references used to create the candy tin and umbrella.

3D Art II Week 02 - Karambit Knife Game Res and Bake




For this week, we were tasked with creating a game res low poly mesh for our knife from last week. Afterwards, we had to UV and bake. I had to go back and fix some issues with my knife from last week and still need to get around to fixing the back ring and clip. During my bake, it appears I decimated too much on the high poly and ended up with a bunch of artifacts showing. I still need to adjust areas such as the opacity trick for the smaller holes.

3D Art II Week 01 - Karambit Knife Proxy and High Res

 For the first assignment of this semester, we were tasked to create a combat knife such as the karambit knife. To focus more on practicing the pipeline and workflow, I opted to stick with the class suggested karambit knife rather than a different combat knife. The primary focus of this assignment is working with live booleans in Zbrush, however I plan on experimenting around in substance painter when it comes to the textures.
